Lent 5 Sunday March 29

Hymn: StF 255 The kingdom of God (verses 1 and 2)

Leader: Today we turn our attention to the ministry of Jesus. We remind ourselves that it was many faceted: healer, teacher, friend, companion. Whether it was a beggar in the street of a Roman leader, everyone received the same care and respect.

Reflection: StF 256:

When I needed a neighbour, were you there, were you there?

When l needed a neighbour, were you there?

And the creed and the colour and the name won’t matter.

I was hungry and thirsty, were you there, were you there?

l was hungry and thirsty, were you there?

And the creed and the colour and the name won’t matter.

I was cold, I was naked, were you there, were you there?

l was cold, I was naked, were you there?

And the creed and the colour and the name won’t matter.

When I needed a shelter, were you there, were you there? '

When l needed a shelter, were you there?

And the creed and the colour and the name won’t matter.

Prayer

Give us, Father, a vision of your world as love would make it,

a world where the weak are protected and none goes hungry,

a world whose benefits are shared so that everyone can enjoy them,

a world whose different people and cultures live with tolerance and mutual respect,

a world where peace is built with justice and justice is filled with love, and give us the courage to build it. Amen

Hymn: StF 255 The kingdom of God v 4

When I needed a healer, were you there, were you there?

When I needed a healer, were you there?
And the creed and the colour and the name won’t matter.

Wherever you travel I'll be there, l’ll be there,

wherever you travel I'll be there.

And the creed and the colour and the name won’t matter, I’ll be there.
